Steve Seyfried
Founder and Managing Director, Family Stages

In this fun-filled theatre program, children will help history come alive at Morris Arboretum! On the very grounds he developed with his sister, Lydia, John Morris (played by a costumed theatre educator) will tell the fascinating stories of his and Lydia's adventurous travels where they gathered many of the exotic plants and trees that now grace the grounds. As John spins his tales, the children join in the story! With simple props and costumes the young performers become the trees, shrubs, flowers, streams, and animals, acting out the creation of the Morris Arboretum. The children meet John Morris at 6:30 p.m. Over the next hour the children learn their parts in a unique and interactive story. At 7:30 p.m. there is a performance for the families. The activities will take place at different locations. On some Thursdays, the Mini-Morris Players will perform at the Fernery, as that story is told. On other evenings they will be at the Rose Garden, the Swan Pond, or other scenic spots. This improvisational program builds children's confidence and creativity, and is
a marvelous way to enjoy a summer evening on the enchanting grounds of the Arboretum! While the children are engaged in the program, parents and grandparents are invited to relax and take a stroll through the gardens.
